Car Bomb Attack in Iraqi Capital Kills 7 People

Iraqi officials say a car bomb explosion near a car repair store in the capital, Baghdad, has killed seven people.

Police officials say the bomb went off at noon Wednesday in the eastern district of Talibiyah. They say the blast also wounded 14 people and damaged several shops and cars. Security forces sealed off the area.

A medical official confirmed the casualty figures. All officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they are not authorized to talk to the media.

No group immediately claimed responsibility for the attack. Iraq sees near-daily attacks often claimed by the Islamic State group that captured large swaths of land in the country’s north and west during a stunning blitz last year.
