Arab states seize 47.4% of Egypt’s food industries exports

The Arab states have seized 47.4 percent of Egypt’s exports of food industries worth 6.5 billion Egyptian pounds (US$830.5 million) within the first eight months of 2015.

According to the latest report issued by General Organization for Export and Import Control (GOEIC) Monday, Saudi Arabia was the largest state to import Egyptian food industries at the end of August 2015 with imports worth 1.8 billion pounds.

Following Saudi Arabia, Libya has imported Egyptian products estimated at 975 million pounds then UAE whose imports worth 694 million pounds, Jordan whose imports of Egyptian products hit 614 million pounds and Sudan with imports worth 607 million pounds.

On other side, the report stated that Egypt’s exports of agricultural crops have been dropped 3% to record 13.7 billion pounds from January-August 2015 versus 14.1 billion pounds at the same period of 2014.

Within the first eight months of 2015, the European states were the second largest importers of Egypt’s food industries -after the Arab states- as they imported products worth 1.4 billion pounds. The Egyptian food industries exports to USA have reached 474 million pounds.

The report further clarified that Egypt’s exports of food industries to other countries are estimated at around 857 million pounds.
