Egyptian Civil Aviation ministry plans boosting capacities of state’s key airports from 47 million to 75.5 million passengers by 2020, Minister Sherif Fathy stated Monday.
During his speech at ACI Africa Regional Conference and Exhibition, Fathy noted that ministry’s strategy aims at expanding in field of air cargo through establishing new cargo city, i.e. Cairo Cargo City “CCC” at Cairo International Airport.
ACI Africa Regional Conference and Exhibition takes place in Cairo from 8 to 15 April 2016 hosted by the Egyptian Holding Company for Airports and Air Navigation (EHCAAN).
The theme of the conference is “Economic sustainability of African airports: Challenges and opportunities” and sessions will focus on the challenges of the economic development and sustainability of air transport in Africa, the enhancement of airport commercial revenues and the safety and security needed to support this development.
About the new CCC, minister Fathy added that the city is set to be built on space of 150,000 square meters to increase accommodation capacity by 350,000 tonnes annually by 2020 to reach 800,000 in 2025.
