Egypt’s Informal Settlements Development Fund (ISDF) is set to put out developing 40 risky slums to tender for the first time during the fiscal year of 2016/2017, an official said Thursday.
Ahmed Darwish, Deputy Minister of Egyptian Housing for Urban Renewal and Informal Settlements, said that 12 slums are located at Cairo, 6 at Giza, 5 at Beni Suef, 2 at Damietta, Sohag and Minya governorates. There is also one slum situated at Asyut, Suez, North Sinai, Qena, Luxor, New Valley, Gharbia, Kafr el-Sheikh, Matrouh, Al Sharqiya, and Qalyubia governorates.
