The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) had on Thursday’s closing posted gains of EGP 1.06 billion as the capital market has reached EGP 326.059 billion.
The main index, EGX30 inched higher 0.11% to close at 4489.55 p. EGX20 shed 0.06% to end at 5068.42 p.
Meanwhile, the mid- and small-cap index, the EGX70 went up 0.71% to conclude at 397.56 p. Price index EGX100 climbed 0.53% to finish at 699.05 p.
Traded volume reached 36.021 million securities worth EGP 124.342 million, exchanged through 10.251 thousand transactions.
This was after trading in 163 listed securities; 40 declined and 108 advanced while 15 keeping their previous levels.
Arabs and non-Arab Foreigners were net sellers seizing 4.69% and 21.84% respectively, of the total markets, with a net equity of EGP 1.343 million and EGP 5.562 million excluding the deals.
On the other hand, Egyptians were net buyers seizing 73.48% of the total markets, with a net equity of EGP 6.905 million excluding the deals.
EGX’s leading shares witnessed unsteady performance.
Orascom Construction Industries:
Orascom Construction Industries (OCI) (OCIC.CA) has secured a $100 million loan from the World Bank’s investment arm to help it expand across the region and rebuild confidence in the country’s private sector. Shares of Orascom Construction Industries (OCIC.CA) climbed 0.74% concluding at EGP 249.07.
Orascom Telecom:
Orascom Telecom Holding (OTH) (ORTE.CA) expects the issue of a $1.3 billion fine levied by authorities against its Algerian unit to be settled by the end of the year, and does not see the need to set aside any cash for the penalty as the allegations of foreign exchange breaches are groundless.
CEO Ahmed Abou Doma said the appeal could take months, and not years. Shares of Orascom Telecom Holding (OTH) (ORTE.CA) went up 0.68% finishing at EGP 2.96.
On the other hand, shares owned by EFG-Hermes Holding (HRHO.CA) sagged 0.84% closing at EGP 10.63. Shares of Orascom Telecom Media & Technology Holding (OTMT.CA) sank 0.81% closing at EGP 1.23. Shares owned by Commercial International Bank- Egypt (COMI.CA) inched lower 0.61% ending at EGP 24.29.
