Alexandria’s Port authority closed the ports of Alexandria and Dekheila for a second consecutive day on Sunday due to the bad weather conditions, state news agency MENA reported.
Earlier on Sunday, Alexandria and other locations along the north coast experienced winter rainfall, reducing visibility at sea. However, there were no reports of traffic on land being affected.
A source at the authority told MENA that the decision to close the two ports was taken to prevent ships from colliding with each other or with the ports’ docks.
Alexandria experiences rain storms every winter, with the current spell of rainy weather due to continue for five days, according to meteorologists.
