Egyptian supply commodities imports fall 3% last year

The import bill of Egypt’s strategic supply commodities have shrunk by 3 percent in 2017, a report said.

The import bill hit $10.628 billion in 2017 compared to $10.962 in 2016, the General Organisation for Export and Import Control said in a recent report on Saturday.

The strategic supply commodities, comprised of 15 items, represent 19 percent of Egypt’s non-oil imports, which in its turn dropped to $56.814 billion in 2017, against $66.309 billion in 2016, the report added.
