Over 10.5 mln homes to be gas-run in Egypt at 2019-end – sources

State-run Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company (EGAS) plans to reach more than 10.5 million homes nationwide fully supplied with natural gas at the end of the year, an official source said on Monday.

“Nearly 9.6 million units are supplied with natural gas as of the beginning of the current year,” an official in EGAS further told Amwal Al Ghad on condition of anonymity.

In 2018, EGAS delivered gas to more than one million units, he said, adding that this number is the largest that was achieved by oil sector in the country.

“We had delivered gas to around 2.6 million units during the period from 2014 to 2018,” he said.

Egypt has succeeded in boosting its natural gas production to more than 6.5 billion cubic metres at the end of 2018, he said.
