Egypt’s trade exchange with Japan rises 30.5% in 2018 – minister

Trade exchange between Egypt and Japan increased 30.5 percent to around $1.265 billion in 2018 from $969 million in 2017, Egyptian Trade Minister Amr Nassar said on Thursday.

Nassar made these remarks during a meeting with Japanese Ambassador to Egypt Masaki Noke, where they discussed economic and trade cooperation between the two countries and future of Japanese investments in Egypt.

“Egypt’s key exports to Japan are oil, ready-made garments, carpets, and cotton,” Nassar said.

Meanwhile, Egypt mainly imports from Japan vehicles, tractors, equipment, electrical appliances, iron and steel, and plastics, the minister added.

“The Egyptian government is keen on offering all its support to Japanese companies operating in the Egyptian market in order to attract more investments in Egypt to benefit from all available investments opportunities,” he said.
