Osama Abdel Moneim Saleh, was born in 1960, is the current Egypt’s Minister of Investment. He has 25 years of Banking experience.
Education and Career Life
Osama Saleh graduated from the Faculty of Commerce, Cairo University, in 1982.
Saleh was the Regional Manager of American Express Bank Ltd. Egypt. He spent more than fourteen years of board General Management experience; Marketing full range of financial services (Corporate/Retail/Consumer/Treasury/Finance and Human Resources). He is specialized in Corporate Banking, Retail Banking, Credit Decisions, Work-Outs, Portfolio Reviews and Corporate Finance transactions.
Previously Osama Saleh was appointed by the Prime Minister as Chairman, Mortgage Finance Authority and Guarantee & Subsidy Fund in Egypt August 2005.
In August 2012, Osama Saleh formally announced that he accepted the investment ministry portofolio, in cabinet of Egypt’s PM Hesham Kandil.
GAFI Chairman
Osama Saleh was appointed by the Prime Minister as the Chairman, General Authority for Investments and Free Zones (GAFI) in September 2009. In addition, he was a board member in Egyptian Financial Supervisory Authority.
His Memberships
Osama Saleh was occupying some other positions. He was a board member of Capital Market Authority. He was a member of the General Assembly, Egyptian Insurance Holding Company, and a board mmber of Egyptian Appraisals Center – Cairo University. Osama Saleh was also a member of the Board of Trustees, The Finance & Investment Institute – Arab Academy for Science & Technology. He was a member of the Bard of Trustees, Ahram Canadian University.
“SMEs are the Backbone of Egyptian Economy”
Osama Saleh, as a Chairman of the Egyptian General Authority for Investment (GAFI), in May 2012, emphasized on the importance of the SMEs to support the Egyptian economic sector.
“SMEs are the optimal solution for the current time in Egypt and for the circumstances which the Arab world is going through. SMEs can drive the economic growth, increase the national income and provide job opportunities.” Saleh told Amwal Al Ghad.
Awards
In 1997, Osama Saleh was awarded a Medal by the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) and the Egyptian Banking Association, in recognition of his efforts exerted in the Egyptian Banking industry.
In 1998, he obtained the Chairman’s Award of Quality from American Express Company.
In 2004, he was chosen by the Board of Directors of American Express Company as one of the top 10 performers globally.
In December 2006, Osama Saleh was selected in a public survey done by Al-Mogaz newspaper as “The Best Chairman of A Public Agency in Egypt” – (Chairman Of The year)
He was chosen by the Rotary Club, (A Non Government Organization), among “The Top Ten influential personalities in the Egyptian Society” for the year 2007.
