Egypt Signs Contract Worth US$1 Bln For Repairing Libya’s Electricity Network

The Libyan crisis committee signed a deal worth US$1 billion with Egyptian companies to extend power lines to Libyan cities and restructure the power lines which were damaged, said Dr. Mohamed El-Senousy, coordinator of the Libyan crisis committee.

A delegation of officials from the Egyptian Ministry of Electricity as well as electricity distribution companies visited Libya and offered their suggestions on on ways to enhance cooperation between the two countries in the fields of reconstruction and the rebuilding of destroyed power grids in Libya.

The Egyptian delegation to Libya discussed the possible role the Egyptian technicians and engineers can play in repairing Libya’s electricity network which was damaged during the Libyan revolution.

A delegation from the Egyptian Ministry of Electricity led by Eng. Gaber El Desouki, the chairman of the Egyptian Electricity Holding Company, visited Libya last Wednesday and held meetings with Libyan officials in which they discussed the Company’s role in rebuilding Libya.
