Chinese Investments in Egypt Hit $8 bln by End of 2013 – Minister

China has made investments in Egypt totaled US $ 8 billion by the end of the current year, a rise of around US $ one billion in return for 2012 investments, the Egyptian Investment Minister Osama Saleh declared Wednesday evening.

During the opening ceremony of the Egyptian-Chinese Chamber of Commerce on Wednesday,  minister Saleh stated that the Chamber is designed to strengthen trade relations between Egypt and China.

Egypt is likely to see greater size of Chinese investments within the upcoming period, the minister added.

The Egyptian-Chinese Chamber of Commerce is a step to expand the scope of cooperation between the two countries.

Moreover, the Egyptian minister said his country is keen on alluring more Chinese investments through creating the optimal investment climate to encourage Chinese businessmen.

The opening ceremony of the Chinese- Egyptian trade Chamber was in the presence of the Chinese Ambassador, and the Chamber Chairman  Moataz Al Said, and his deputy Ahmed Rizk, former Egyptian ambassador to China, and a group of businessmen from both sides.

The ceremony was sponsored and attended by the Minister of Industry and Trade, Munir Fakhri Abdel-Nour, along with Miniser Saleh.
