Dubai-based to acquire

Dubai-based, the leading online shopping and e-commerce provider, has entered into an agreement to purchase, a marketplace for merchants and couriers in the UAE, to provide an innovative mobile and web-based delivery solutions for businesses and individual consumers.

Souq, a subsidiary of, had previously invested in, and will be acquiring 100 per cent of the company but did not disclose the figure.

Amazon bought Souq in July to bring more products and offerings to the region’s online customers even faster.

“Our customers will remain our key focus and we will continue to deliver an exceptional online shopping experience. Fast dependable delivery is key to this, and provides customers with more convenience for their same and next day delivery,” Ronaldo Mouchawar, CEO and co-founder, said in a statement.

Souq is already running a targeted promotion for free shipping for shoppers who makes a minimum purchase of Dh150 per transaction on products participating in the “Fulfilled by Souq” campaign.

Mouchawar said Wing will continue to invest in growing its same and next day delivery service in the region.
