EFA Official Rules Out Faking Of Injuries By Elmohamady And Ekrami

Egyptian Football Association (EFA) Vice President Hassan Farid ruled out the possibility of that Pharaohs’ duo Ahmed Elmohamady and Sherif Ekrami faked injuries in order to miss the side’s recent Botswana trip.

The Pharaohs left Egypt on Tuesday without Ahly keeper Sherif Ekrami, Zamalek winger Hazem Emam, Smouha striker Hany El-Eguizi and Hull City’s winger Ahmed Elmohamady – but several reports suggested that Elmohamady and Ekrami claimed they were injured to avoid the Botswana clash.

The Ahly keeper underwent scans on Tuesday that revealed he hadn’t suffered a serious injury.

“I cannot believe that the two players claimed injury,” Farid said in a TV programme on Wednesday.

“Elmohamady is a professional player and he knows his duties well, while Ekrami is one of the best Egyptian keepers.”

Egypt will face Botswana, who also have no points, in Gaborone on Friday before hosting them five days later in Cairo.
