Egypt, Apache discuss major expansion plans

Egyptian Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Karim Badawy met on Monday with Greg McDaniel, Vice President and Country Manager for Apache Corporation in Egypt, to discuss their growing collaboration in the exploration and production of oil and gas in the Western Desert.

Apache is the largest crude oil producer in the country, and their partnership with Egypt’s petroleum sector continues to drive significant growth.

The two sides reviewed recent developments, including plans to drill new wells, as well as the expanded investment commitments that will increase natural gas production in the Western Desert. This growth is supported by the petroleum sector’s investment incentives and will involve securing additional exploration areas for Apache.

Minister Badawy stressed the importance of accelerating drilling efforts to boost local production, making it a top priority for the Ministry. He also highlighted the importance of maintaining rigorous health, safety, and environmental standards, praising Apache’s excellent track record in these areas through Khalda Petroleum, the joint venture between the company and the ministry.

McDaniel reaffirmed Apache’s commitment to working with Egypt’s petroleum sector to enhance production and drive sustainability initiatives, such as improving energy efficiency and reducing emissions.
