Egypt approves gas supply, infrastructure boost for Kafr El-Sheikh industrial zones

Egypt’s Minister of Industry and Transport, Kamel El-Wazir approved on Sunday key infrastructure upgrades for industrial zones in Kafr El-Sheikh, including the provision of natural gas, improved transportation networks, and potential land ownership reforms to attract investment.

During a meeting with investors, Minister El-Wazir greenlit the extension of natural gas pipelines to industrial zones in coordination with the Ministry of Petroleum, with investor associations managing internal distribution. To streamline business operations, he also authorised local industrial development offices to process building permit applications, eliminating the need for investors to travel to Cairo.

Addressing land allocation concerns, the minister ordered a legal review to assess converting usufruct-based land allocations in Metoubas and northern areas into full ownership, aiming to encourage long-term investments.

To enhance worker transportation, Minister El-Wazir instructed the expansion of transport routes between Rashid and Metoubas and approved the construction of two new overpasses on the international coastal road to improve access to the Metoubas industrial zone.

He also urged investors to leverage the new Egypt-Italy RoRo shipping line between Damietta and Trieste, emphasizing its potential to lower costs, reduce transit times, and create over 2,000 jobs for Egyptian truck drivers, boosting Egypt’s export competitiveness in European markets.
