Asian markets were a mixed bag on Tuesday, following a downturn on Wall Street driven by concerns about the potential impact of President Donald Trump’s tariffs.
Japan’s Nikkei 225 index fell by 0.6 per cent to close at 36,793.11, marking its lowest level in six months. However, it recovered from a more than two per cent decline earlier in the day.
Meanwhile, China’s Shanghai Composite index rose by 0.4 per cent to reach 3,379.83 as the country’s annual national congress concluded its session with initiatives aimed at supporting the sluggish economy.
In Hong Kong, the Hang Seng index remained stable at 23,782.14. Australia’s S&P/ASX 200 dropped by 0.9 per cent to 7,890.10, while South Korea’s Kospi fell by 1.2 per cent to 2,537.60.
