Egypt keen to host world radiocommunication 2019 event: minister

Egypt’s Minister of Communications,Yasser El-Kady is calling the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) to host the forthcoming session of the World radiocommunication conferences (WRC) in the North African country.

The WRC’s upcoming event is scheduled for 2019.

The minister stressed that Egypt has the capability to organise such important events, like for instance the Global Symposium for Regulators (GSR) that Egypt hosts from 11 to 14 May 2016.

World radiocommunication conferences (WRC) are held every three to four years. It is the job of WRC to review, and, if necessary, revise the Radio Regulations, the international treaty governing the use of the radio-frequency spectrum and the geostationary-satellite and non-geostationary-satellite orbits. Revisions are made on the basis of an agenda determined by the ITU Council, which takes into account recommendations made by previous world radiocommunication conferences.
