Egypt looks to establish 1st integrated city for Alzheimer’s patients in Africa, MENA

Egypt plans to establish the first integrated city for the care and residence of Alzheimer’s patients at Fayoum governorate, as it will be the first of its kind in Africa and the Middle East, according to an official statement on Friday.

Fayoum Governor Ahmed al-Ansari met with Marwa Yassin, chairman of Al-Baqyat Al-Salihat Association, along with number of officials to discuss all the procedures of the proposed city.

The statement added that the city will adopt the principle of comprehensive long-term care psychologically, socially, environmentally, and medically.

Yassin further mentioned that the city will also serve as a therapeutic destination used in the field of medical tourism at Fayoum governorate.

al-Ansari welcomed the project’s idea noting that it will assign number of state-owned land parcels to inspect them and choose the most suitable one to set up the project on it.

He also directed the officials of the Al-Baqyat Al-Salihat Association to prepare a comprehensive study for the project, which includes general plan and timelines for the construction works.

At the end of the meeting, the General Nursing Captain gave al-Ansari the shield of the union, in recognition of his outstanding role in supporting the medical sector and all service and development sectors.
