Egypt’s Minister of Planning, Economic Development, and International Cooperation, Rania Al-Mashat met with Mastercard executives on Tuesday to discuss expanding cooperation in digital transformation, cybersecurity, and financial innovation.
Talks focused on enhancing government payment systems for startups, boosting cybersecurity awareness for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and financial institutions, and providing digital tools to combat cyber threats. The discussions also covered initiatives to develop digital skills and workforce training for entrepreneurs.
Minister Al-Mashat emphasised the role of digital transformation in strengthening Egypt’s economic planning, attracting investment, and driving private sector growth. She highlighted the use of AI and big data for evidence-based decision-making and economic forecasting, as well as key initiatives such as the Government Innovation Lab and Egypt’s Startup Charter.
Jon Huntsman, Vice Chairman and President for Strategic Growth at Mastercard, reaffirmed the company’s commitment to Egypt’s digital economy. He underscored ongoing investments in public-private partnerships aimed at strengthening economic resilience and cybersecurity.
