Egypt is working to strengthen its green energy collaboration with India’s ReNew Power, focusing on expanding green hydrogen projects to position the North African nation as a regional clean energy hub.
During a meeting on Tuesday, Egypt’s Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade, Hassan El-Khatib, and Vikram Kapur, group president for Growth Business and International at India’s ReNew Power, discussed ways to accelerate investments in Egypt’s renewable energy sector. The move aims to attract foreign investment and drive sustainable development.
Minister El-Khatib, who is visiting India, praised ReNew Power’s role in supporting Egypt’s renewable energy transition, emphasizing that closer ties between Egypt and India will create new economic opportunities and jobs. He also highlighted Egypt’s $8 billion green ammonia project in the Suez Canal Economic Zone as a key milestone in attracting global investors.
Reaffirming Egypt’s commitment to clean energy, Minister El-Khatib stressed that the government will continue to offer incentives and investment-friendly policies to encourage private sector participation. He also commended ReNew Power’s expertise in green hydrogen, viewing the partnership as an opportunity to enhance local production and technology transfer.
With economic relations between Egypt and India growing rapidly, the discussions followed the successful sixth session of the Joint Trade Committee in New Delhi. Kapur reaffirmed ReNew Power’s commitment to Egypt’s green energy goals, stating that the company is eager to implement its projects in line with global sustainability standards.
