Egypt, Romania sign executive plan for agricultural co-operation
Egypt and Romania signed on Wednesday an executive plan for agricultural co-operation during joint technical committee meetings in Bucharest.
Egyptian Minister of Agriculture, Alaa Farouk signed the agreement with his Romanian counterpart Florin-Ionuț BARBU in the presence of Minister of Planning, Economic Development, and International Co-operation Rania Al-Mashat.
According to Egyptian Minister Alaa Farouk, the executive plan focuses on strengthening bilateral collaboration in areas of plant production, plant health, seed production, technology transfer, research, livestock, and land reclamation.
Both countries will also collaborate on expertise exchange, capacity building, and agricultural innovation, as well as address climate change challenges, the minister added.
The two ministers earlier held discussions to increase Romanian investments in Egypt’s agriculture sector, notably in areas like mechanisation, cooperatives, and developing new crop varieties, such as wheat, corn, sunflower, and soybeans.
