Egypt to host University of Exeter’s 1st African campus

Egypt’s Ain Shams University and the UK’s University of Exeter signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Sunday, to establish a pioneering campus for the University of Exeter in Egypt. This initiative marks the first Russell Group university presence on the African continent.

Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly highlighted that the initiative aligns with Egypt’s ambitious vision to strengthen academic collaboration with world-class institutions. He noted that the partnership aims to provide Egyptian students access to high-quality education and prepare them to excel in local and international job markets.

Moreover, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Ayman Ashour described the collaboration as a transformative milestone. He emphasised the significance of launching the first Exeter University branch campus in Africa, noting its potential to reshape higher education in Egypt and support the country’s role as a regional hub for academic excellence.
