Egypt is preparing to implement the state budget for fiscal year 2026/2027 after approval by the House of Representatives. The budget prioritises health, education, and social protection, alongside efforts to support economic stability and growth.
This came during a meeting on Tuesday, chaired by Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly, with Finance Minister Ahmed Kouchouk to review key ministry files and preparations for the new budget rollout.
Madbouly said the budget aims to stimulate production and exports, attract investment, enhance competitiveness and support productive sectors, while ensuring greater focus on citizens’ needs through more efficient spending programmes.
The Finance Minister reaffirmed that health, education and social protection remain top priorities over the coming years, alongside continued tax, property and customs facilitation measures for investors and citizens.
In addition, the meeting reviewed funding for the Egyptian Authority for Unified Procurement (UPA). The 2026/2027 budget allocates 90.5 billion Egyptian pounds to the authority, up 34.6 per cent, alongside efforts to settle arrears owed to suppliers to ensure stable supply chains.
