Egypt’s FinMin courts French investment in meeting with French Treasury’s Dumont
Egypt is seeking to attract more French investment into key sectors of its economy, Finance Minister Ahmed Kouchouk said on Wednesday after talks with Bertrand Dumont, Director General of the French Treasury.
Kouchouk said recent reforms and stronger private-sector participation had helped improve Egypt’s economic performance during the current fiscal year.
During the meeting, Kouchouk said Egypt had pursued fiscal and economic policies aimed at preserving budget discipline while supporting growth, according to a finance ministry statement.
He said the government was working to improve competitiveness and attract more domestic and foreign investment through tax, customs, and other facilitation measures.
Kouchouk invited French companies to expand investment in Egypt’s strategic sectors, highlighting what he described as promising opportunities throughout the economy.
He also called for broader cooperation with international financial institutions to develop lower-cost financing mechanisms that support development efforts in emerging economies.
Egypt has been pushing to accelerate private-sector-led growth and attract more foreign direct investment as part of its broader economic reform programme.
