Egypt’s food exports recorded approximately 232,000 tons during the week of February 8-14, according to the National Food Safety Authority’s latest report. The shipments included 725 varieties of vegetables, fruits, flour, and other food products.
Egypt’s vegetable export portfolio boasted 67 different varieties, with a total volume of around 75,000 tons. Potatoes topped the exports with 26,000 tons followed by beans with a total of 12,000 tons and various froxen vegetables at 11,000 tons.
Last week, citrus fruits were the most exported fruit with 65,000 tons, followed by strawberries at 10,000 tons, and fruits at 5,000 tons. In total, 80,000 tons of 35 fruit varieties were exported, the statement added.
Egyptian food exports cater to a vast international audience. During the week of February 8-14, shipments reached 200 countries. Saudi Arabia, Lebanon, the Netherlands and Sudan emerged as the top destinations for this bounty of Egyptian produce.
