Egypt’s food industry exports reach $6.9b in 2025

Egypt’s food industry exports reached $6.9 billion in 2025, up 68.3 per cent from $4.1 billion in 2021, according to a new report by the Cabinet’s Information and Decision Support Center (IDSC).

The sector accounted for around 14 per cent of Egypt’s total non-oil merchandise exports in 2025 and ranked third among non-oil industrial sectors by export value.

The number of food industry companies rose to 1,530 in 2024 from 1,127 in 2019, while their issued capital increased to 6.6 billion Egyptian pounds from 2.2 billion pounds.

The report highlighted efforts to develop the food value chain, expand smart agriculture and modern irrigation, strengthen food safety, reduce waste, and improve the efficiency of water and energy use.

Egypt’s grain storage capacity also expanded, with 87 silos holding around 3.8 million tons in 2025, compared with 32 silos in 2014.
