Egypt’s Imports ‘Sharply’ Fall 64% by May-end

Egyptian Foreign Trade Sector revealed to Amwal Al Ghad that the country’s non-petroleum products imports have reached around US$ 24 billion during the period from January to May, 2013.

By the end of May 2013, the Egyptian imports have witnessed a dramatic decline of 64%, compared to its value for the same period of 2012 which hit around US$ 29 billion.

The engineering and electronic products were on the top of the list of Egypt’s imports, exceeded US$ 7 billion  the top of the products of the productive sectors exporting to the Egyptian market, which exceeded US$7 billion by May-end. The chemical products came second, the building materials sector ended third, the food industry on fourth and agricultural crops were fifth.
