Egypt’s poultry producers cut prices by 15%

Prices of Egyptian poultry and eggs are expected to drop by 10 to 15 per cent as per the initiative of poultry producers, the Egyptian Cabinet stated.

The initiative reflects Egypt’s Prime Minister’s request for key staples producers and importers to execute significant price cuts after the government’s currency depreciation and foreign exchange inflows for all activities.

Starting from Tuesday, April 2nd, the cost of live chicken per kilogram at farms will be 85 Egyptian pounds, and a carton of table eggs will be priced at 135 Egyptian pounds.

In light of these announced prices, the maximum retail price of poultry will be 95 Egyptian pounds per kilogram and 145 Egyptian pounds for an egg carton of 30 units. This move is part of the government’s efforts to regulate market prices and ensure the availability of commodities at reasonable prices for all citizens.
