Google Asked To Testify On Taxes Again In Britain

Google Inc. and its auditor Ernst & Young will be questioned again by a British parliament committee about how much it pays in taxes after some confusion over whether it sells to UK customers from the UK.

The move is in reaction to a Reuters report that said some Google employees and customers think the company does make sales in the UK from its UK offices, according to Reuters.

If the company makes sales to UK customers from the UK, it could mean bigger tax bills.

Google executive Matt Brittin had previously said that a “couple hundred” Google employees in Dublin sell to UK clients, but the company has listed a London-based sales staff on its website and advertised London sales jobs, according to the report. Google Director for External Relations Peter Barron told Reuters that “all sales to UK clients were transacted with Google Ireland.”
