INTERVIEW: Telecom Egypt to launch 4G mobile services next April

State-run landline monopoly, TelecomEgypt is seeking to start providing fourth-generation mobile services next April, executive president Tamer Gadalla said in an interview with Amwal Al Ghad.

For this purpose, TE has hired an international company for technical consulting to help in the preparations of the launching 4G services next April, Gadalla said.

The huge growth in the Egyptian mobile services market has encouraged Telecom Egypt to invest in order to become an integrated operator, he added.

Commenting on TE’s recent obtain of 4G services licence, Gadalla stated that it was a matter of life and death given the intense competition among the country’s three mobile operators.

Since 2013, Telecom Egypt has started a huge developmental plan to improve the quality of the service it provides. The recent acquisition of the 4G licence came as a cherry on top of TE’s efforts to add mobile and internet service to its existing products, the Egyptian official stated.

With a robust infrastructure and a highly trained workforce, TE will be the destination which provides integrated and comprehensive voice, mobile, and data services, Gadalla concluded.
