ITU organises awards program at Telecom World 2016

The International Telecommunications Union (ITU) will launch an awards programme at ITU Telecom World 2016, open to all sponsors and exhibitors present at Telecom World 2016. The event will take place on November 14-17 in Bangkok, Thailand. The Awards will be presented by ITU Secretary-General Houlin Zhao at a high-profile ceremony during ITU Telecom World 2016.

The Awards Program at ITU Telecom World 2016 celebrates innovation and creativity by aiming to recognize the most promising and effective initiatives using ICTs innovatively for social good – whether created by entrepreneurs, Small and Medium Sized Enterprises (SMEs) or large-scale industry players. It highlights best practices and ideas for innovative socio-economic development.

In addition, it provides a platform to network, mobilize investment and create new business opportunities for ICT solutions with social impact.

The Awards are in five categories: first, Global SME Award for the most promising innovative solution from an SME.

Second, Partner Award presented by ITU Telecom World partners in recognition of innovative excellence in ICT initiatives for social good. Third, Thematic Award for the most promising innovative solutions with social impact in specific vertical sectors. It may include sectors such as e-education, e-health, e-government, disaster prevention and communications.

Fourth, Recognition of Excellence Certificate for the best innovative exhibitor within each National Pavilion at ITU Telecom World 2016. Fifth, Host Country SME Award, for the best and most innovative SME or solution from the event’s host country.

ITU Telecom World is an annual ICT event organized by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), the UN agency responsible for ICT-related issues. ITU Telecom World is a global platform for accelerating ICT innovations.

It aims to deliver economic development and social good faster through its exhibition for digital solutions, forum for sharing knowledge and networking hub connecting nations, organizations and individuals.
