Power Cut Paralyzes Domestic Markets

The continuity of power cut in the domestic markets for the second month successively caused a stated of recession. The consumers don’t go shopping; fearing of the darkness that prevails in the market.

Rafaat Al Kamaar, deputy chairman of Children Toys Division in Cairo Chamber of Commerce, said the sector’s daily losses reach 30%, because the consumers abstained from going to the markets, whereas the current period is a season for selling toys.

He referred that the continuity of power cut represents burden on the traders, as they have a lot of financial commitments; paying salaries and rents.

Yasser El Hawari, director of mall in Hurghada, said the malls mainly depend on power in securing the stores and operating the coffee shops and restaurant, in addition to operating the movie theatres, so some parts of the mall are being operated by generators which make us face the lack of diesel that used in operating the generators.
