Siemens Completes Fast-Track Turbine Supply & Installation At Egypt

Siemens has completed the fast-track supply and delivery of four E-Class turbines to Egypt’s Attaka Power Plant in collaboration with supply partner ELSEWEDY Power System Projects (PSP). The first turbine has entered commercial operation after a construction period of only five months, making it one of the fastest implementation times for this type of project in the company’s history.

Operated by East Delta Electricity Production Company (EDEPC), Attaka Power Plant has an installed generating capacity of 640 megawatts (MW), and is a significant addition to the capability and stability of Egypt’s national electricity grid.

Located near Suez City, Attaka Power Plant is part of Egypt’s Third Fast-Track Electricity Plan which aims to meet the country’s rapidly rising demand for efficient, reliable power generation capacity. The plant is powered by Siemens E-Class turbines which are characterized by high fuel flexibility and reliability, service-friendly design and suitability for all load ranges, particularly peak-load operation.

Siemens opened its first office in Cairo in 1901, and currently employs around 550 people in Egypt. Technology from Siemens is responsible for generating approximately 26 per cent of the country’s electricity generation, and the company has been instrumental in supplying technology to projects across the energy, city infrastructure, industrial and healthcare sectors.
