Sisi, PM Johnson discuss boosting Egyptian-UK relations in phone call

Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi discussed boosting Egyptian and British bilateral relations in a telephone call with the new British Prime Minister Boris Johnson on Saturday evening, the Egyptian presidency said in a statement.

President Sisi, who received the telephone call, congratulated Johnson on assuming the prime minister position in the UK and went on to expressing his wish that the upcoming period would witness ways to boost the Egyptian British bilateral relations in all fields especially the economic, political, security and tourism fields.

From his side, Boris Johnson expressed his determination to upgrade the bilateral relations with Egypt specifically in the economic and social fields especially that Britain is considered the biggest foreign investor in Egypt.

According to the Egyptian presidency, Johnson also praised the achievements Egypt has accomplished in the economic and social development fields, as well as the national projects and infrastructure developments.

Politically, the British prime minister stated that he was depending on Egypt’s vital role as a stability and peace in the Middle East and Africa, as well as its role in fighting terrorism and radicalism.

The statement added that PM Johnson was looking forward to meeting President El-Sisi at the upcoming Group of Seven (G7) meetings to be held in France, in September.
