Telecoms minister inaugurates Borg El-Arab, Assiut tech parks at Cairo ICT 2016

As per Egyptian President al-Sisi’s directives, Minister of Communications Yasser El-Kady has inaugurated Sunday the first phase of Borg El-Arab and Assiut technology parks project in a video conference.

El-Kady said he was given the green light to inaugurate the New Borg El-Arab and Asyut technology parks on the first day of Cairo ICT 2016.

The 20th round of Cairo ICT, the leading technology event in Africa and the Middle East, is running between November 27-30.

Sisi also demanded to execute more technology parks nationwide in the upcoming period as a next phase of this project.

El-Kady added that his ministry has already signed contracts with five global tech companies during Cairo ICT 2016 to start establishing plants for smart phone and tablet production in the new technology parks.

The Egyptian minister also highlighted the important role technology parks play to support sustainable development in addition to creating infinite job opportunities for youth.

As part of this project, the ministry is planning to launch training programmes for 11,000 Egyptians on innovation and entrepreneurship to prepare them for working in technology parks.
