Egyptian textile sectors were able to able to achieve the exporting target set by the Ministry of Industry and Foreign Trade in 2012; recording as to EGP 16 billion from January to November 2012.
This exporting value represents about 93% of the sector’s total exporting target at the end of 2012, which records EGP 17.3 billion; according to the national strategy for developing the exports.
The ready-made garments sector recorded EGP 7.8 billion; the furnishings sector achieved EGP 3.8 billion, while the textile sector reached about EGP 4.4 billion.
Mohamed Kasem, Chairman of Ready-made Garments Export Council, has stated to Amwal Al Ghad that the sector’s exports are expected to increase in the coming period, as the concerned exports councils are seeking to open new exterior markets in Eastern Europe countries, south East Asia and Gulf countries as well as the North African countries.
