Vodafone Group discusses boosting investments in Egypt ICT sector

Egyptian Prime Minister Sherif Ismail has met Thursday with Vodafone chief executive for the Asia-Pacific, Middle East, Africa (APMEA) region, Vivek Badrinath to explore possible investment opportunities in Egypt.

In the presence of Minister of communications, Yasser El-Kady, Ismail welcomed Vodafone’s step to push further into Egypt’s mobile services market making good use of investment incentives the government offers to all investors, Cabinet spokesman Hossam Al-Qaweesh said

Speaking about the recent application of 4G service, Ismail said it would improve internet speed provided to citizens and thus help boost foreign investment and create a better business environment.The Egyptian prime minister further added that 4G services will have positive societal and economic ramifications on growth rates alluring foreign investors to expand in Egypt.

From his part, Vivek Badrinath expressed his company’s willingness to inject further investments in Egypt and improve its telecom infrastructure in support of new4G internet speeds.

He further added that Vodafone Group will emphasise in the coming period on technically qualifying the company’s staff members and expanding services to cover the needs of neighboring countries.
