Zazou: Tourism Crisis Now Is Exacerbated Than Luxor Massacre

During the current period, Egypt is witnessing an utter chaos and political instability that negatively affected the tourism sector rather than any other sector, especially after the notorious Luxor Massacre in 1997, said Hesham Zazou, Egypt’s Tourism Minister.

Zazou revealed that the government in Egypt is aiming at achieving $ 12 billion returns in 2013, at rise of 25% than the last year.

The Ministry is going to set a national program for developing the interior tourism in April; expecting a slight decrease in the tourism’s returns due to the dollar shortage crisis. This matter led the hotels to put down the prices of accommodation and services.

The Ministry also aims to receive 14 million tourists in 2013, said Zazou; pointing out to launching a new advertising campaign in the Arab and European countries so as to encourage the tourism in the summer season.

Zazou has called on the Egyptian Ministry of Interior to perfectly take over the responsibility of securing the vital areas and historical places in the governorates.
