Egypt pumps EGP 3.5bn into rural life improvement initiative
Egypt’s initiative for improving the quality of life in rural areas targets 1,000 rural areas in the neediest villages in the country, the Minister of Planning and Economic Development, Hala El-Saeed said.
The first phase of the initiative involved 143 rural areas where 12.5 million people are living, representing 23% of the total number of rural population, El-Saeed added.
The initiative includes injecting EGP 3.5 billion, bringing the total value of investments to EGP 13.5 billion by the end of fiscal year 2020/2021.
These investments are directed to infrastructure, sanitation, water projects, health units, cultural centres, youth centres, and nurseries.
