Amazon sees Egypt as MENA strategic industrial hub, seeks to manufacture its product locally

The E-commerce giant Amazon seeks to locally produce its products in the Egyptian market as being a strategic industrial hub in the Middle East according to Dalia Seif, Amazon’s head of public policy and regional operations manage

The international US online retail company Amazon, which owns Souq.com that operates in Egypt, is planning to expand its services in the promising Egyptian market in the field of e-commerce.

Seif added that the company is planning to establish new warehouses and distribution centers for the company in all governorates during a video conference meeting with the Minister of Industry and trade Niveen Gamea.

She added that the company is keen on attracting more Egyptian companies to market their products through it E-commerce platform, especially in the field of ready-made garments, household appliances, plastic products and electronic device accessories.

In August, the General Manager of Souq.com, reviewed the company’s investments in Egypt, noting that it has more than 10 distribution centers nationwide and hires around 1,000 employees.

Sahy added that Amazon looks forward to expanding its business in the Egyptian market and making a range of its various services available, notably artificial intelligence and digital payment.

They also tackled means of supporting small and medium-sized enterprises, in parallel with the state’s efforts to encourage them to put their products for sale on Souq.com.
