Sisi attends Egypt Human Development Report 2021 launch

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi attended on Tuesday the launch of the Egypt Human Development Report 2021.
The Report highlights human development during the decade 2011-2020.

The launch took place in the country’s New Administrative Capital, on the outskirts of Cairo.

The United Nations Development Programme in Egypt (UNDP Egypt) has collaborated with the Egyptian Ministry of Planning and Economic Development to produce the report.

The Human Development Report reflects the comprehensive development efforts undertaken by the state, which “extend to all aspects of life in Egypt,” presidential spokesperson Bassam Rady said in a statement.

The report adopts the concepts of “the right to development” and “people are the real wealth of nations” as an intellectual framework for tracking and analysing development progress in Egypt, according to UNDP Egypt’s tweet.

The UNDP added that the concept of human development focuses on people as the basis for development more than the economy. The report focuses on the progress made by Egypt in the field of human development in the past 10 years and ways to move forward and leave no one behind.

Khalida Bouzar, director of UNDP’s Regional Bureau for Arab States, said earlier on Thursday Egypt’s Human Development Report 2021 process, “puts forward approaches to advance the right to development in Egypt,”

The last human development report launched in Egypt was 10 years ago as it focused on youth.
