Xylem opens its North Africa hub in Egypt
U.S. water technology company Xylem Inc expands its commitment to North African countries by inaugurating its office in Egypt.
Company’s Egypt office, located in New Cairo, will serve as a hub for the North Africa region, set to provide enhanced levels of service, innovation, and support for current and future customers across North Africa and the Middle East.
“The booming Egyptian economy encourages Xylem to introduce more technologies and solutions in the water infrastructure sector, especially wastewater and irrigation treatments, and expansions into the utility market and national mega projects.” Mohamed Shetta, Xylem’s Country Manager for Egypt, in a statement on Thursday.
“Egypt, North Africa, and the Middle East are very important to Xylem.” Shetta added.
Xylem has a long history in the Egyptian market, said Shetta, noting that for over 50 years, the company’s well-known brands had served numerous sectors, such as Flygt in wastewater, B&G for the HVAC market, and Lowara for booster applications.
Xylem opened its new offices during an exclusive ribbon-cutting ceremony in the presence of numerous important dignitaries.
The new office help strengthen and support the Egyptian government’s efforts to achieve Egypt’s Vision 2030 – a long-term strategic plan to achieve the principles and goals of sustainable development in all fields, including water, the company said in a statement.
Through bolstering its presence in the country and adding more skilled human resources to support key projects, Xylem increases its partnership with Egypt and the country’s national strategy to maximise water resources.
Xylem and its brands feature prominently in several mega projects across Egypt including, Abu Rawash treatment plant, Gerza irrigation treatment project, Alexandria wastewater pumping station renovations, the Ministerial District in the new administrative capital – HVAC and plumbing, the New Alamein City Downtown and Towers water systems, and South Valley – Toushka – Irrigation project
The new regional office enables Xylem to bring even more focus and dedication to Egypt and surrounding countries, Shetta added.
It is part of a strategy to expand and deepen its presence across Africa, including new East Africa office in Kenya. Xylem said it is committed to making water work throughout the continent.
Establishing office in Egypt brings Xylem and its partners closer to customers, providing best-in-class teams to service and support to fulfil the market’s technical and commercial needs with all supporting functions, including sales, aftersales, orders, logistics, and engineering technical support, the company stated.
“Solving water is central to our purpose and vision at Xylem,” said Chetan Mistry, Xylem Africa’s strategy and marketing manager.
“We constantly aspire to help people realise the value of water. In North Africa and the Middle East, that is not a challenge. Governments, businesses and private citizens know that water is a scarce resource and they invest to ensure they secure their supplies and put those to the best use with the latest in technology and expertise. We are honoured that we can participate in those visions.”
“Launching the Egypt office is a milestone for a long-running relationship between Xylem, Egypt and the surrounding countries. We have more plans for the region, so watch this space!” Mistry added.
Xylem operates across more than 150 countries, often through the work of its partners. Through the Egyptian regional office, Xylem can better capacitate its partners, offer more comprehensive solutions at shortened timelines.
