Russia turns to Tunisia for oil imports after EU sanctions
Tunisian oil gas and diesel imports from Russia has greatly increased last month, reaching 77,000 barrels per day in February, in light of EU bans on Russia, according to Kpler analytics data.
Tunisia’s oil gas and diesel imports from Russia reached 20,000 barrel per day in January and 25,000 barrels per day in December, the data showed.
Russia was the main source of diesel in Europe, exporting more than 60 percent of the continent’s need, while after EU’s full ban on Russian oil it halts the trading, making Russia find customers for its oil products.
Russian and Baltic diesel exports to Europe declined to 1.77 million tons in February, according to data issued by Refinitiv. Russia is currently working on exporting low-sulfur diesel to Morocco, Algeria, Ghana and Brazil.
Europe has also switched its diesel imports from Russia, to import from India, Saudi Arabia, China, Kuwait and Malaysia.
European diesel revenues have declined to 30 dollars per barrel, after a record high of 81 dollars per barrel in October.
