Human development, utilities receive largest share of Egypt’s budget

Egypt has allocated a significant portion of its 2024-25 budget to human capital development and basic utilities, underscoring the country’s emphasis on enhancing human development and improving the efficiency of services provided to citizens nationwide.

An infographic published by the Ministry of Finance, focusing on the “Citizen Budget,” reveals that 42.4% of current investments are dedicated to human capital development, and 25.4 per cent of the investments have been dedicated to drinking water and sanitation services.

Meanwhile, construction projects accounted for 8.4% of government investments, telecommunications and information technology projects received 3.6% of the total investment allocation, and 7.1% was allocated to transport and storage activities.

The infographic also reveals that energy projects received 3.8% of the total budget allocations, agriculture projects were allocated 3.1%, and 6.1% was designated for various other government investments.
