Egypt and Jordan signed on Monday a cooperation agreement to optimise the use of Egypt’s infrastructure for importing liquefied natural gas (LNG) to serve Jordan’s growing energy needs. The agreement was formalised in Cairo in the presence of key officials from both countries.
Egyptian Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Karim Badawi and Jordan’s Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Saleh Al-Kharabsheh oversaw the signing of the deal. The agreement, designed to maximise the economic benefits of Egypt’s LNG infrastructure, will ensure a steady supply of natural gas to Jordan, contributing to the stability of the region’s energy market, according to a ministry statement.
Minister Badawi emphasised that this agreement underscores the ongoing commitment of both countries to deepen cooperation in the natural gas sector, ensuring energy security and mutual benefits. He highlighted the importance of leveraging Egypt’s energy infrastructure as a key enabler for both nations, expressing his gratitude to the teams from both sides that contributed to the successful completion of the agreement.
