ADB approves $173m for Cambodia’s climate-resilient Water
The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has approved $173 million in loans and grants to bolster climate-adaptive water resources management in Cambodia.
An $88 million Integrated Water Resources Management Project will focus on the Tonle Sap basin, modernising irrigation systems, reducing flood risks, and enhancing eco-friendly water management in Battambang and Pursat provinces.
The project includes a $4.3 million grant from the Asian Development Fund and an $80 million co-financed loan from the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank.
Additionally, $85 million in financing will expand the Irrigated Agriculture Improvement Project across four provinces, improving water delivery efficiency and climate resilience while supporting Cambodia’s National Water Resources Management Data Centre.
ADB Country Director Jyotsana Varma emphasised the projects’ role in protecting vulnerable communities, boosting food security, and strengthening climate resilience in the face of rising drought and flood risks.
