The Cairo International Centre for Conflict Resolution, Peacekeeping and Peacebuilding (CCCPA) has launched its first cooperation project with the Netherlands, in partnership with the Dutch Ministry of Asylum and Migration and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Egypt.
The initiative was launched during a signing ceremony attended by Dutch Minister of Asylum and Migration Marjolein Faber and Egypt’s Deputy Foreign Minister for Migration Affairs Ambassador Abou Bakr Hefny. It reflects the shared priorities of Egypt and the Netherlands in tackling migration challenges and reaffirming their joint commitment to combating irregular migration and human trafficking.
The project aims to build the capacities of African personnel and institutions to address transnational crimes, particularly irregular migration and trafficking in persons, especially in contexts affected by conflict and forced displacement.
In her remarks, Minister Faber praised Egypt’s comprehensive approach to migration, which balances humanitarian, political and security dimensions.
Ambassador Hefny stressed the importance of international cooperation and shared responsibility in addressing displacement crises, while CCCPA Director Ambassador Seif El-Din Kandil underscored the need to shift from crisis management to implementing sustainable and inclusive solutions.
UNDP Resident Representative in Egypt Alessandro Fracassetti said irregular migration and trafficking remain among today’s most pressing challenges, adding that the project adopts a comprehensive, prevention-focused approach that addresses root causes and strengthens justice systems.
