France’s Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices (HICP) rose by 0.8 per cent year on year in April 2025, down slightly from 0.9 per cent in March, according to a provisional estimate by the national statistics office released on Wednesday.
Month on month, the HICP increased by 0.6 per cent in April, up from 0.2 per cent the previous month, driven largely by higher transport and food prices.
The national Consumer Price Index (CPI) also climbed 0.8 per cent year on year, holding steady from March. Energy prices continued to decline, helping to curb overall inflation, though this was partially offset by a rebound in food prices. Prices of services and manufactured goods followed similar trends to the previous month.
