Egypt, Türkiye strengthen cultural ties in ministerial talks

Egypt’s Minister of Culture Ahmed Fouad Hano met with the Turkish Minister of Culture and Tourism Mehmet Nuri Ersoy to enhance cultural ties between the two nations and explore potential areas for collaboration, as per a Cabinet statement.

The meeting focused on boosting cultural collaboration between the two nations by exchanging Opera House performances, organising art exhibitions, and facilitating reverse translation from Arabic to Turkish to introduce Arab literature to Turkish audiences.

Both parties explored opportunities for collaboration in protecting intangible cultural heritage, involving artists and performance groups in international festivals, and organising joint cultural events and cultural days.

Hano confirmed that this meeting marks a significant step towards activating cultural cooperation between Egypt and Türkiye, paving the way for innovative partnerships and the sharing of knowledge between the two nations.

He further emphasised that the ministry places great importance on promoting dialogue and cultural exchanges with countries worldwide to enhance Egypt’s global presence through the soft power of culture.

Hano also explained that the cooperation with Türkiye aligns with a strategic vision aimed at building effective partnerships in the intellectual, artistic, and knowledge sectors, according to the statement.

For his part, Ersoy emphasised his country’s desire to broaden cultural cooperation with Egypt, based on a firm belief in the importance of culture as a bridge for mutual understanding and rapprochement between peoples.

He noted that the meeting allowed for discussions on upcoming cultural and artistic initiatives. He also invited the Egyptian Ministry of Culture to join the World Culture Festival, a major event to be held in 20 cities across Türkiye.
